Registered Psychologist

Emily is a Registered Psychologist and Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society. She holds a Masters in Counselling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. Emily utilises a holistic and client-centred approach, empowering each individual, couple or family to engage their strengths and resources in service of meeting their needs and goals. Emily incorporates a range of modalities including Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and Creative Arts Therapy.

Emily spent four years working as a Psychologist in the Western Australia prison system, where she developed and piloted group treatment programs for incarcerated Aboriginal people targeting substance abuse, domestic violence and sexual offending. After moving to Hobart, Emily began working in private practice. Since that time she also developed and facilitated programs for at-risk youth at the Hobart PCYC, presented as a guest lecturer for the Clinical Psychology Masters program at the University of Tasmania and ran the Cygnet Clinic for the Huon Valley Council Community Mental Health Care Program.

Emily is also an associate counsellor with LifeWorks Relationship Counselling and Education Services in their Inter Country Adoption Family Support Program, which provides free counselling services to individuals, couples and families currently or previously engaged in the inter country adoption program. Clinical areas of Interest:

Depression and Anxiety

Emily works across the lifespan supporting children, adolescents, adults and older adults experiencing depression and/or anxiety. 

Trauma Recovery

Emily has a special interest in supporting clients in healing from trauma using EMDR therapy, as well as somatic and mindfulness based approaches.   

Children and Families

Emily works holistically to assist children and parents with a range of psychological issues including family and relationship issues, parenting support, school stress, life transitions and adjustment disorders.  

Issues pertaining to Relationships and Sexuality

Emily supports clients with issues pertaining to relationships, communication, intimacy and eroticism, including support for individuals and couples around polyamory, ethical non-monogamy and fetish sexuality. 

LGBTQIA+ Clients

Emily provides safe and informed counselling for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, non-binary, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual clients, as well as children and adolescents experiencing issues in relation to sexual and gender identity.

Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Clients

Emily has a background in cross-cultural counselling and social justice, as well as experience working with Aboriginal clients in relation to racism, oppression and intergenerational cultural trauma. She provides safe and supportive counselling to culturally and linguistically diverse clients.
