Clinical Psychologist

Margaret Stoklosa, Clinical Psychologist and Director of Family Psychological Services has more than 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. She is a Clinical College member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is endorsed as a Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA. Margaret achieved her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Tasmania and her Masters in Psychology at California State University, Northridge in the USA. She achieved registration in California as a Marriage, Family and Child Counselor and an Educational Psychologist. She spent 22 years in California working in the public schools and private practice until she returned, with her family, to Tasmania in 1994 when she established Family Psychological Services.

Margaret specialises in the treatment of trauma, anxiety and depression disorders in the context of family and relationship issues. She has extensive experience dealing with issues relating to divorce, parenting arrangements and blended families. She has considerable expertise with  children and adolescents with a variety of psychological and educational issues including behavioural disorders, emotional/behavioural regulation and social confidence. She has provided professional seminars for educators, psychologists and parents and regularly consults with schools. Margaret has been a visiting lecturer in the Masters in Educational Psychology Program, at the University of Tasmania.  

Margaret will consult with you in order to develop a treatment plan that fits with your goals and preferred therapeutic approach. She is trained in Cognitive/Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Family and Relationship Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy. She has been trained and has extensive experience in the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy for the treatment of trauma.
